For the past two years, the fans of Jose Wejebe and Spanish Fly have been celebrating Jose’s birthday and his mission to share the gift of fishing with future generations, and it’s been a joy to see the movement spread through the vast world of social media. In honor of his January 18th birthday, fans will be using #fishforjose in social postings through the month of January to share their own efforts of passing on the gift of fishing.
From tribute videos, like this one from Bass 2 Billfish’s Peter Miller, to children reeling in their first catch in the pond or families chartering off the coast of Casa Vieja, everyone has shown their love for Jose’s mission with their own #fishforjose post.
We’re inviting you to join us and the fans again with some of these suggested activities. You can also visit http://bit.ly/fishforjose16.
- Get out of the office and out on the water.
- Introduce a friend, family or a stranger to the sport of fishing.
- Learn or teach something new: secret spot, how to tie a fly or tricks of the trade.
- When you catch … let go, let ‘em grow.
